The Iowa Militia Qualifications Amendment, also known as Amendment 5, was on the 1868 ballot in Iowa as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The measure removed the word "white" from Section 1 of Article VI of the Iowa Constitution, relating to militia qualifications.[1][2]
