Voters in Alabama to decide on amendment in September
August 31, 2012

MONTGOMERY, Alabama: A September 18, 2012 ballot measure in Alabama would transfer more than $437 million from a trust fund to the state general fund. Governor of Alabama Robert Bentley (R) said that if voters reject the measure, he would not seek a tax increase.[1]
The Alabama legislature is next in session starting February 5, 2013.[1]
According to state senator Arthur Orr (R), Bentley's position on the matter means the legislature almost certainly won't seek a tax increase.[2]
Alabama will next hold legislative elections in 2014.
