Article XVII of the Arizona Constitution is entitled Water Rights. It has only two sections; the first governs water rights within the state, and the second recognizes these rights.[1]

Section 1

Text of Section 1:

Riparian water rights

The common law doctrine of riparian water rights shall not obtain or be of any force or effect in the state.[1][2]

Section 2

Text of Section 2:

Recognition of existing rights

All existing rights to the use of any of the waters in the state for all useful or beneficial purposes are hereby recognized and confirmed.[1][2]
