Article IX of the South Carolina Constitution is entitled Corporations and consists of two sections.

Regulation of Common Carriers, Publicly-Owned Utilities and Privately-Owned Utilities Serving the Public The General Assembly shall provide for appropriate regulation of common carriers, publicly owned utilities, and privately owned utilities serving the public as and to the extent required by the public interest. |

Section 2
| Text of Section 2:
Formation, Organization, and Regulation of Corporations The General Assembly shall provide by general law for the formation, organization, and regulation of corporations and shall prescribe their powers, rights, duties, and liabilities, including the powers, rights, duties, and liabilities of their officers and stockholders or members. |
