This comes after 2021 when Ballotpedia identified 91 total school board recalls, the largest number tracked since at least 2009. When a recall effort spans multiple years, Ballotpedia counts the recall in both years, with all efforts so far in 2022 having begun last year.

Two recall elections have taken place so far in 2022 in the Leyton and Waverly 145 school districts in Nebraska. Voters rejected both efforts. Additionally, three school board recall efforts are scheduled in Newberg, Ore. (Jan. 18), San Francisco, Calif. (Feb. 15), and Giltner, Neb. (Feb. 15). The remaining recall efforts are currently underway.
