HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania: There are 228 total legislative seats with 2012 elections in Pennsylvania, where polling places are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Eastern Time.
Both the House and the Senate are in Republican hands currently, and the appear to be leaning towards the Republicans again for 2012. However, the majorities are slim enough that it is possible that one or both of the chambers could flip to Democratic control, particularly the House.
Of the 228 incumbents up for election in 2012, 202 (88.6%) of them are running for re-election. A total of 108 of 228 (47.7%) districts will see more than one major party candidate in the general election.
Here are a few races to watch:
Senate
- District 15: Rob Teplitz (D) and John McNally (R) are looking to win a seat being vacated by Jeffrey Piccola (R).
- District 33: Write-in candidate Bruce Neylon (D) is challenging incumbent Richard Alloway (R).
House
- District 3: Ryan Bizzarro (D) and Jason Owen (R) are vying for a seat vacated by Democrat John Hornaman.
