Roca was suspended in January 2016 over charges that she worked with Philadelphia Municipal Court Judges Dawn Segal and Joseph Waters to secure favorable treatment for her son in a tax case.[4]

Roca apologized to a three-judge panel of the Pennsylvania Court of Judicial Discipline on September 8, 2016, saying, "I am extremely sorry for my conduct and my behavior." "It's something that I shouldn't have done," she continued, "It's not the person that I am. It's not the person that I want to be."[4][5]

In October 2016, the Pennsylvania Court of Judicial Discipline found Roca guilty of an ethics violation. The court held a hearing on November 21, 2016, to decide her punishment.[6] On December 16, 2016, the court of judicial discipline ruled that Roca be removed from the bench.[7]
