Arie Kassimis was an at-large member of the Norwalk Board of Education from 2011 to 2017. He won re-election to the board as a Republican candidate against nine other candidates on November 5, 2013. Kassimis was first appointed to the board in May 2011.[1] He was also a Republican candidate for District 25 of the Connecticut State Senate but lost to Bob Duff on November 2, 2010.

Kassimis attended Iona College and previously worked at Purdue Frederick. He was an IT executive before becoming the pastor of World Alive Bible Church. Kassimis began coaching Little League baseball and youth softball in 1998.[2][3]

Kassimis won election to a first full term on the board against nine other candidates for four seats on November 5, 2013. He ran on the Republican slate along with incumbents Sue Haynie and challengers John G. Bazzano and Lauren Rosato.

Kassimis was uncontested in the August 10 primary. He was deafeated by incumbent Democrat Bob Duff in the November 2 general election.[4][5]

2013

Kassimis explained his top priorities in the 2013 campaign in an interview with the League of Women Voters of Norwalk:[6]

My priorities will be to continue to work with our Superintendent to raise the bar for our schools and ensure that every student receives an equitable education.

Continue to implement the recommendations of our financial audit to ensure that the Norwalk School system remains fiscally sound. These recommendations will enable us to properly align our budget with the goals of our School system.

Work closely with our city’s Police and Fire Departments and ensure that all security measures are being followed. [7]
