Lopez ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Oregon's 3rdDistrict. Lopez was defeated in seeking the nomination on the Republican ticket. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run was March 6, 2012. Lopez was defeated by Ronald Green in the Republican primary to unseat incumbent Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D).[2]
