Eric Casteel was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. Casteel's professional experience includes working as a cyber security engineer, front line manager, and executive manager. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1983 and attended University of Phoenix for a graduate program.[1]

Eric is a lifelong Southwestern Pennsylvania native. He grew up outside of a small town called Hopwood in Fayette County at the foot of the Summit Mountain. Eric moved into Allegheny County shortly after graduating from college. Eric and his family have lived in Plum Borough since 1991.

Eric is seeking election to the Allegheny County Council District 8 office as a Republican Party representative in 2021. Eric is seeking this opportunity to help Allegheny County Council focus on county fiscal issues.

Eric brings a fresh “Common Sense”, Logical and “Think Outside the Box” approach to problem solving. Eric’s philosophy is that “Anything worth doing is worth doing well”. This approach and philosophy along with Eric’s work ethic will be a strong asset to moving the County Council forward.

Eric’s professional background includes 38 years as an Information Technology Professional encompassing software development, technology system/network design and cyber security architecture. Eric is currently working as an Industrial Computer System (ICS) Cyber Security Engineer.

Eric has held management level positions throughout most of his career including CEO, President, Vice President, Managing Director and several middle level management positions. Eric has also been a small business entrepreneur with software, technology and engineering companies during his career.

I am passionate about supporting our first responders, fiscal responsibility and an equal voice for all residents in District 8.
At age 60, I am not a career politician. My current problem solving expertise as a Cyber Security Engineer, combined with my previous small business experience and some good old fashioned common sense are what I believe is needed for Allegheny County Council
To make Allegheny County a better place to live for our generations to come.
