Submitted Biography "I am Doug Sayers and I have entered the 5th Congressional District 2020 race as a Republican. The District needs a Representative that will work with President Trump. As an everyday commuter and a Veteran, it only takes commonsense to understand the 5th District's critical issues. Additionally, I strongly believe in protecting our Bill of Rights which are restrictions on the government. Our Bill of Rights and our Conservative values are under attack and these are our individual rights and our founding principles in our US Constitution. I am a 27 year Veteran, father of four wonderful children, 12 year member of American Legion Post 82, and member of LaPlata Methodist Church and have traveled the world into over 135 countries."

We need a Representative that will get Federal Transportation funds to Maryland and reimburse Maryland for paying for the United State (US) 301 Harry Nice Bridge as this should be a construction project with $480 million dollars using Federal funds versus State funds. This would allow Maryland to reallocate the $480 million dollars in State funds to the Thomas Johnson Bridge project to relieve traffic congestion. We need fresh ideas and term limits in order to avoid career politicians that work for lobbyists and lack coordinating Federal transportation funds for us.

We need Federal collaboration on the Branch Ave to White Plains railway project, as the US 301/Hwy 5 commute is one of the worst in America. We need a Veterans Affair Center in Southern Maryland as the upcoming new Charlotte Hall Community Base Health Clinic is 20 years overdue.
My favorite quotes are from President Lincoln so this is who I read about and as he lead in difficult times and stood firm in his position to ensure our country remained united.
Business Skills, knowledge of National Security Strategy, knowledge of America's worst enemies, knowledge of America's closest friends, traveled into over 135 countries and understand foreign policy, knowledge of Veteran Affairs, knowledge of the annual NDAA and knowledge of biggest local issues that need Federal funding in the 5th District.
Help people live their best lives
The Space Shuttle Challenger crash in 1986 in 6th grade at age 12 as the teacher informed us of the crash.
Gasoline and convenience store in High School and worked from 3pm to 10pm and worked 10th/11th/12th grades.
Bible and helps me maintain my moral compass
Divorce and working through co-parenting.
It depends; I do believe in fresh ideas and term limits versus career politicians.
Ensuring our nation's moral compass remains centered on the founding principles in our US Constitution. Additionally ensure citizens' Bill of Rights are protected as they are "rights" that the government are restricted from interfering with and protect individual liberties and so individuals can pursuit their happiness.
Agree; to allow for fresh ideas versus group think
Yes, recently talked to a local VA Doctor and we need six more specialty VA doctors now at the Charlotte Hall CBOC and it is unreal that the 5th District Southern Maryland counties lack a Veteran Affair Health Center for our Veterans and they have to drive through one of the worst commutes in American into Washington DC.
