Education

Marchalk graduated from Tamaqua Area High School, McCann School of Business, New York Institute of Technology and Widener University School of Law.[1]

Career

He worked as a partner in the Law Offices of Gary D. Marchalk LLC. He also spent time as a legal administrator, corporate accounting manager and consumer and commercial loan officer.[1]

2011 election

Marchalk ran for an open seat on the Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas. He was defeated by James P. Goodman in both parties' primaries on May 17. He received 7.5 percent in the Democratic primary and 13.8 percent of the vote in the Republican primary.[2] He has cross-filed with the Democratic and Republican parties.[3]

Marchalk is running for the county judgeship left open with the retirement of Senior Judge D. Michael Stine. He is running against fellow Republican Lloyd R. Hampton and Democrats James G. Conville, James P. Goodman and Claude Shields.[1]
