Marion Gold was a member of the Rhode Island Public Utilities Commission. She was first appointed to the commission, effective June 2016, by Governor Gina Raimondo (D) for a six year term.

She was previously the Commissioner of the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources.[1]

Gold announced in February 2021 that she would not seek reappointment to the Public Utilities Commission and would retire on March 1, 2021.[2]

Before being appointed to serve on the Rhode Island Public Utilities Commission, Gold was the commissioner of the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources. She had previously worked in the Department of Environmental Management and the RI Resource Recovery Corporation. In addition to her service in the public sector, Gold has also worked for the University of Rhode Island as the director of the Outreach Center.[1]

In addition to being a commissioner, Gold is an adjunct professor of environmental and resource economics.[1]

Political career

Rhode Island Public Utilities Commission (2016-present)

Gold was appointed to the commission by Gov. Gina Raimondo, effective June 2016, to replace former commissioner Paul Roberti, whose term had expired on March 1, 2015. Upon selecting Gold, Raimondo issued the following statement:
