Pennsylvania permits school board candidates to cross-file in primary elections. This means that a candidate may file to run in the primary election for both the Democratic and Republican parties. A cross-filed candidate can advance to the general election by winning one or both of the partisan primaries. This maximizes a candidate’s chances of advancing to the general as they have two ways to win in the primary round. If the candidate wins only one of the primaries, they face the winner of the other primary in the general election. Cross-filers who win both primaries may still face independent candidates in the general election.[1]
Biography
Faccinetto's professional experience includes working at Townsend Insurance Agency. He has also been involved with the Minsi Trails Council, Boy Scouts of America, and is active in his church, Sacred Heart, in Bethlehem Twp. Faccinetto received his B.S. in insurance from the Smeal College of Business at Penn State University in 2000.[2]

2017
Faccinetto submitted the following statement to the Bethlehem Press:[7]
“ | I believe the voters will support me because I have been a leader on the BASD board for the past eight years. I have worked with the administration to move the BASD forward while dealing with extremely difficult financial conditions. I have worked hard to have the BASD at the table when important education issues are being discussed in Harrisburg. My work with the Pennsylvania School Boards Association has put a spotlight on our district and my PSBA presidency will bring more attention to the good work being done here in Bethlehem.[8] | ” |

2013
Facinetto's campaign website listed the following campaign themes for 2013:[9]
“ | Finances
At this point I feel the board has done a good job in trying to diversify risk and has laid the framework for a brighter financial future. Unfortunately it will take time for our financial situation to improve and the impending PSERS situation will cause more issues for the BASD if the PA Legislature does not act. Communication [W]e need, as a board, to focus on improving the lines of communication between all parties involved. Given the events that have taken place over the past several years it is no wonder that the public has lost trust in this board and the BASD. It is a top priority of mine to reestablish better lines of communication and to make as much information readily available to the public. What is best for students Finally we must always remember that the number one priority is still a quality education for all students. Every vote, every decision, every debate must come down to what will provide the best opportunities for our students. they are the reason we are all here.[8] |
