Campaign themes

2016

Greedy's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

  • Support the Blue Print for Nevada.
  • Undo the hostile working environment for state employees.
  • Attracting and retaining government employees including public safety employees with improved wages and salaries.
  • Prevent state trained employees such as prison and highway from leaving for more money after training.
  • Increasing education funding including rural community colleges.
  • Build state and local budgets so that beginning and continuing K-12 teachers receive a minimum $50,000 per year.
  • Continue emphasis for public education: “Public money for public schools”.
  • Oppose school voucher programs as violating the Nevada Constitution no matter what subterfuge is proposed.
  • Support Common Core STATE standards as explained in the Superintendent of Public Instruction September 6, 2013, letter.
  • Reduce the “top down” management of the class room.
  • “Sentencing reform”, community sentencing, more community supervision for low risk offenders with mandatory jail time for second DUI convictions.
  • Readily accessible community-based mental health and addition services including drug substitution regimes and needle exchanges.
  • Remove single party primary electing office holder (299, 499)
  • No photo ID for voting.
  • Non-profits under contract with state have access to state telephone and accounting systems.
  • Allow unions for state workers as is now done for teachers, et al.
  • Support activities which only government can do, e.g. roads, schools and prisons.[1]
