Steven McNeely
Steven McNeely was a 2018 Democratic special election candidate for District 29 of the Arkansas State Senate.
Biography
McNeely earned his B.A. in history from Henderson State University in 1988. He went on to receive his J.D. from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1996. McNeely has been a licensed attorney since 1996. He also spent 22 years enlisted in the United States Army Reserve.
Elections
2018
A special election for the position of Arkansas State Senate District 29 was called for May 22, 2018. A special primary election was called for February 13, 2018. The candidate filing deadline was December 13, 2017.[1]
The seat became vacant following Eddie Joe Williams' (R) resignation. He resigned his seat on November 15, 2017, in order to serve as President Donald Trump's (R) representative to the Southern States Energy Board.[2]
Ricky Hill (R) defeated Steven McNeely (D) in the special election. McNeely was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Hill defeated Jim Coy in the Republican primary.[3][4]

2012
McNeely ran in the 2012 election for Arkansas House of Representatives, District 40. McNeely ran unopposed in the May 22 Democratic primary and was defeated by Douglas House (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[5][6][7]
