James F. Hartmann, Jr.
James F. Hartmann, Jr. was the chief judge of the Colorado 19th Judicial District Court. He was appointed to this court in 2003. He left office in 2022.
Education
Hartmann received his law degree from the University of Idaho.[1]
Career
Hartmann worked as a Weld County Chief Deputy District Attorney prior to joining the District Court in 2003. He had served at the District Attorney's office for 13 years.[1]
Elections
2012
Hartmann was retained in the general election on November 6, winning 70.59% of the vote.[2]

Judicial performance evaluation
The Nineteenth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance announced its recommendations for judges up for retention in 2012. According to its website, the commission evaluates judges based on the following criteria: integrity, legal knowledge, communication skills, judicial temperament, and administrative performance.[3]
Judge Hartmann was recommended for retention by an unanimous vote. [4]
