James L. Rhodes is a former judge of the Cook County 2nd Subcircuit in Illinois. He was first elected to the court in 1996. He retired in 2016.

Rhodes was retained to the Cook County 2nd Subcircuit with 74.7 percent of the vote on November 4, 2014.  

Evaluations

The Illinois State Bar Association rated James L. Rhodes as Recommended for retention in 2014.

Education

Rhodes earned a B.A. from Knox College, going on to receive his J.D. from the University of Michigan. He was admitted to the bar in 1975.

Career

Prior to his judicial election in 1996, Rhodes was an assistant public defender.
