Jason A. Marks
Jason A. Marks is a former member of the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission representing District 1 from 2005-2013. Marks was first elected in November 2004 and re-elected in 2008. He served as vice-chair from 2005-2007 and chairman in 2008.
Marks could not run for re-election in 2012 because of term limits. He was succeeded by Karen Montoya (D), who won election on November 6, 2012.
Marks announced in February 2013 that he was considering a run for New Mexico Attorney General in 2014, but suspended his campaign by October 2013.[1][2]
Biography
Prior to serving on the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission, Marks worked in healthcare finance and rate setting. He was Hospital Programs Manager for Oregon Medicaid, and later joined the accounting firm of Myers and Stauffer LC, where he became a Principal.[3]

Elections
2014
Marks was considering running for New Mexico Attorney General in 2014.[4] He suspended his campaign after an exploratory committee found that his chances of a win were slim with his current fundraising trends compared to the amounts being raised by other candidates. He posted an open letter on his campaign website where he explained the situation.
"After much consultation and consideration, it has become clear that the fundraising gap has put our campaign in a position where the prospects of winning are slim under most scenarios. It would be unfair to my friends and supporters - and to my family - to ask for continued commitments of time, money, and energy to the race under these circumstances. So, with disappointment, I am suspending my campaign for Attorney General."[2]
The general election took place on November 4, 2014.
2012
Marks was term-limited and unable to seek re-election to the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission in 2012.[5] Karen Montoya (D) won election on November 6, 2012.
