Jill Ganus
Jill Ganus was a judge of the Jefferson County District Court in Alabama. She assumed office in 2017. She left office in 2019.
Ganus (Republican Party) ran for election for judge of the Jefferson County District Court Place 11 in Alabama. She lost in the general election on November 5, 2024.
Biography
Ganus earned a B.A. in political science with a minor in English and a J.D. from the University of Alabama.[1]
Ganus previously served as a district judge for the family court in Jefferson County. She was appointed to that position in January 2006 and won election to a full term in November 2006. She was defeated in her bid for re-election in 2012.[1]At the time of her first appointment to the court in 2006, Ganus was an assistant district attorney for Jefferson County.[1] She also worked as an assistant district attorney for Tuscaloosa County and an attorney in private practice.[2]

There are 98 judgeships on the Alabama District Courts, each elected to six-year terms. The elections for this court are partisan contested elections. To serve on this court, a judge must have been licensed to practice law for three years.[3]
2012
Ganus defeated Austin Burdick in the Republican primary on March 13, winning 68.40% of the vote. She was defeated by Lorraine Williams-Pringle in the general election on November 6, receiving 47.54% of the vote.[4][5]
