I am a native Charlottean and proud third-generation Mecklenburg County attorney. I attended Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, UNC Chapel Hill, UMass Boston, and North Carolina Central University School of Law. I am regularly in district court and experienced in conflict resolution as a trained collaborative attorney, parenting coordinator, and certified Family Financial Mediator. I have served in leadership roles for local and statewide organizations. I am a local and statewide legal volunteer, providing free legal services for clients of different backgrounds and needs.
  • I am running for district court judge because I want to give back to our community by helping all people of Mecklenburg County move through our court system with respect and compassion.
  • For people to experience fair and impartial justice, they all need to be heard and treated with dignity. People also need their judges to understand them and be curious about what they do not understand. I will listen to all sides that come before me and use my experiences in law, community service, business, and nonprofits to help me remedy the problems I see in my courtroom.
  • As a district court judge, it will be my responsibility to understand, enforce, and apply the laws as written, objectively and consistently, to the facts determined based on the evidence presented. I will need to make my decisions on a case-by-case basis.
I believe: The law should be applied equally to all people, and no one should be denied access to our court system. All people should be heard, respected, and treated with dignity.

I will consider all the evidence, apply the law to the facts, and issue timely rulings so parties can move forward. I will find reasonable, practical, legally appropriate, and socially responsible resolutions within the law. And I will explore ways to reduce the likelihood of people's future contact with the justice system.
