Scott Taylor is the Republican Place 4 judge on the 28th Circuit Court in Alabama. He was appointed to the court by Gov. Robert Bentley on June 15, 2015, to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Robert Wilters. Taylor won election to a full six-year term in the general election on November 8, 2016.[1]

Taylor was a judge on the Baldwin County District Court from 2012 until his elevation to the circuit court in 2015. He was elected to the district court in 2012 to replace Judge Jody Bishop.[2]

Biography

Taylor received a history degree from the University of South Alabama and his J.D. from the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law at Faulkner University. He was the deputy chief assistant district attorney for Baldwin County. He has served as a court-appointed mediator and a special master for the 28th Judicial Circuit and the Alabama State Bar.[2]

Alabama held general elections for local judicial offices in 2016. A primary election took place on March 1, 2016, with a primary runoff on April 12, 2016. The general election was held on November 8, 2016.

Incumbent Scott Taylor ran unopposed in the general election for the Alabama 28th Judicial Circuit Place 4 seat.[3]

Taylor defeated Denise Baschab in the Republican primary on March 13, 2012, winning 58.80 percent of the vote. He was elected to the Baldwin County District Court after running unopposed in the general election on November 6, 2012.[4][5]
