Anna Lucio Cruz was the Place 2 member of the San Benito Board of Trustees in Texas. First elected in May 2012, she ran for re-election to a second term on May 9, 2015. Cruz defeated Orlando Lopez in the election for Place 2.
The winners of the 2015 election joined the district's new superintendent in tackling the consequences of an unbalanced budget. While initially a large reduction in staff seemed necessary to make up for several year's of over spending, other suggested plans hoped to avoid such a cull.
