People might ask, why Anne Pruitt? Likely the greatest strength I can offer is real- life business experience. It's no easy task to start, grow, and perpetuate a small business. I currently work with the public and other businesses on a daily basis . As an owner, I manage others, make decisions critical to the agency, resolve conflict, and interpret/negotiate contracts. I understand financial reports, and consistently work to manage expenses/budgets. I've been a member on several insurance advisory boards, served locally on the board at WCWAA, and I'm currently the president of our neighborhood HOA. I truly think all these things should transition well if I were elected to serve our town. I've always believed that people and businesses succeed when a common-sense approach is used. Leaders should be transparent, and know how to manage other's expectations. Helping to guide Weddington should be no different.
  • Control growth, limit the commercial footprint, and keep our small town feel.
  • Keeping our taxes low and affordable. Working to maintain high property values.
  • Help bring our community together through events and festivals.
I think most would agree "growth management" and making good use of our open undeveloped space is paramount. I know as a current resident, traffic congestion, school crowding and rapid development are all concerns. Obviously, most solutions start with a plan. Our town must avoid sprawl development. Carefully planned growth is a good thing and should include citizen input, due diligence, and supervised implementation.
