Annette Watson seeks to serve the people of Morris City, MN. Annette has lived in Morris since 2018. She is a military spouse and a mother of five. Annette has a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Languages, a Master of Theology, and a Master of Divinity. Annette started pursuing doctoral studies in Law and Policy in 2022. Her goal is to use her knowledge of Law and Policy to ensure that the people of Minnesota can achieve their version of the American Dream.
  • The goal of the city government should be to ensure the safety and prosperity of its people. Annette Watson wants to ensure that the people of Morris, MN, are more prosperous after her term of service. Morris City officials act as stewards of the people to protect their property rights, their exercise of free market trade, their city facilities and services, and their freedom. The laws of the city should not needlessly limit the personal freedom of the individual. The city of Morris needs to better communicate with the people concerning their relationship roles with each other in order to alleviate misunderstandings in responsibilities.
  • The goal of city government should be to create and maintain a balanced budget. Annette Watson is a fiscal conservative, who wants to make sure each town project is appropriate, minimizing city debt and maximizing citizen benefit. Taxes should be made and kept low in order to ensure that the citizens can live their American Dream.
  • The goal of city government should be to uphold the Constitution, State law, and the City Charter. Annette Watson represents the Judeo-Christian worldview wherein the government's job is to protect man's God-given, natural rights. Annette also wants to make sure that the City Charter reflects the current laws and city mechanisms, as the Charter is not currently updated to reflect how the city operates (particularly in law enforcement and city roles).
First, Annette Watson understands the relationship between one's environment and one's health. The city of Morris should not aid the inculcation of toxins upon the people of Morris. Annette wants to protect the water supply from toxins. Second, Annette understands that a city can increase its business economy by tax incentives and by simple permitting processes. Third, Annette acknowledges the work of Someplace Safe and would support any city effort to protect against human trafficking and violent crime.
Not only does a politician need to have integrity, but also a politician needs to seek the best good for the people she serves. Annette supports the Judeo-Christian mindset of the Founding Fathers when making laws and forming government. Their principles applied lead to the free exercise of religion, the freedom of speech and the press, the right to peaceably assemble, and the right to petition the government for a redress of grievances. With law based in Christian ethics, the individual and the individual's natural rights matter in the creating laws. The ethic of integrity includes the thought that government does not create laws to benefit one group over another, because all are equal under the law.
Annette Watson would like to leave a legacy to the people of Morris as one of individual wealth. Annette wants the businesses, citizens, and students of Morris to feel more economic security because of their choice to reside in Morris.
Annette Watson agrees with Sunshine laws being applicable to financial transparency and government accountability.
