Bruce Gale
Bruce Gale ran for election for the Department 21 judge of the Nevada 8th Judicial District Court. He lost in the primary on June 9, 2020.
Gale was a 2016 candidate for the 8th Judicial District Court in Nevada.[1] He was defeated in the general election on November 8, 2016.[1]
Education
Gale received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law. He was admitted to the bar in 1988.[2][3]
Career
Gale is the owner of his own firm, Bruce L. Gale Attorney at Law. As an attorney, he has practiced in the areas of business and real estate, probate and trust, personal injury, criminal, family, tax, gaming and appellate law.[2][4]

Nevada held general elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. A primary election took place on June 14, 2016.[5] Incumbent Joe Hardy Jr. defeated Bruce Gale in the Nevada Judicial District 8 general election for Department 15.[1]

Primary: He was defeated in the primary on June 10, 2014, receiving 17.1 percent of the vote. He competed against Jacob Hafter and incumbent Susan Johnson.

Gale ran for the Department 4 position on the Nevada Eighth Judicial District Court; he was one of nine candidates for this position. He was defeated by incumbent Judge Kerry Earley in the general election on November 6, 2012, earning 7.12 percent of the vote.[8]

Gale ran for election to the Las Vegas Municipal Court. He was defeated by incumbent Cedric A. Kerns in the primary election on April 5, 2011. Gale received 48.60 percent of the vote.[9]
2010

Gale ran for judge of the newly-created Department 26 of the 8th District Court in Nevada. He won 28.61 percent of the vote in the primary, advancing him to the general election. He was defeated by Gloria Sturman in the general election.[10][11]
Selection method

The 72 judges of the Nevada District Courts are elected to six-year terms in nonpartisan elections. To serve additional terms, judges must run for re-election.[12]
Each district court selects its chief judge to a two-year term by peer vote. Not every district court is required to select a chief judge; only in districts with populations over 100,000 are the courts required to choose one.[12]
Qualifications
To serve on the Nevada District Courts, a judge must be:[12]
- a qualified elector;
- a state resident for two years;
- a district resident;
- at least 25 years old;
- licensed and admitted to practice law in Nevada; and
- a licensed attorney for 15 years with at least two years in Nevada.
