Concord, New Hampshire: John Broderick, Chief Justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court, announced his resignation on June 17, 2010. A Supreme Court justice since 1995 and Chief Justice since 2004, Broderick said that he does not plan to retire, but will return to the private sector to practice law. "My life has taught me that change is good, and the time is right... It was never my intent to stay too long," he said. During his time on the court, he expanded the family court system, created a special docket for complex business litigation and opened up the Office of Mediation and Arbitration. During his last few months in this office, he worked to prevent large cuts in the courts' budget.[1] He will step down on November 30, 2010.[2]
