An initiative to increase the city's minimum wage was not put on the ballot for Cincinnati voters in Hamilton County, Ohio, in 2016.
If approved, the initiative would have increased the city's minimum wage to $12.20 per hour by 2018. The measure was also designed to mandate a minimum of five paid sick days for all workers after at least 60 days of employment.[1]
Support
A group called Cincinnatians for a Strong Economy was behind this initiative.[2]
Path to the ballot
The group needed about 6,000 valid signatures to qualify its measure for the ballot. In September 2015, the Cincinnatians for a Strong Economy announced it would try to put the initiative before voters at an election in 2016, but it failed to do so.[1][3]
