The Colorado Animal Euthanasia Initiative did not make the November 4, 2014 ballot in the state of Colorado as an initiated state statute. The measure sought the enactment of stricter laws regarding when a shelter animal can be euthanized. The group AnimalsVote.org sponsored the initiative.[1]
Support
The group AnimalsVote.org sponsored the initiative.[1]
Path to the ballot
Supporters would have had to obtain at least 86,105 valid signatures by August 4, 2014, in order to place a measure on the ballot, regardless of whether the measure was an initiated constitutional amendment or an initiated state statute. While this proposed initiative had a ballot title set, its petition format was not approved, making 2014 ballot placement impossible.[2]
