Primary: She ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on March 18, 2014.
General: She was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 41.4 percent of the vote. She competed against Dave Carlson.

Para previously ran for election to the 12th Judicial Circuit Court, 1st Subcircuit, but was unsuccessful.[4]
Education
Para graduated from Morton College in 1981 and went on to receive her undergraduate degree from Dominican University, Rosary College in 1983. She received her J.D. from John Marshall Law School in 1987.[4]

Para has worked for the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation since 1996.[4]
