I’m Donna Jones, a 25-year resident of Richmond Township. My background is in IT Project Management. I started out working with financial systems, and spent most of my career in maintenance systems and asset management. I have experience in a lot of different industries and technical areas, but it's working with people that made that work successful. I like to listen and communicate with people.

I started working the elections in Richmond township many years ago and always enjoyed meeting my neighbors as we ensure our elections were administered properly. I became more involved in the township after I retired by volunteering where I could.

I'm married and my husband Pat and I have a completely spoiled dog "Ellie" who keeps us active. We have family in the area, spend time outdoors, and love to hear live music whenever we can.
  • If I’m elected Richmond Township Chairperson, my first priority will be to: 1. Be a responsible steward of our money.
  • My second priority will be to: 2. Work to make the Town Board a cohesive, productive working team.
  • My third priority will be to: 3. Provide transparency and good communication with the residents.
Fair and thorough vendor bidding and awards.
While state law only requires multiple bids for work over $25,000, I think it's prudent to get multiple bids on all kinds of expenses. It's important that the board is fair and impartial in vendor selection.
The Town Chair leads the Town Board which represents the residents of the township.
My father. He was a math teacher, a City Treasurer, a Park District Commissioner, a Boy Scout Troop Leader, a Track & Field Coach, a Church Leader, and a Mason; all while being a terrific father to five children.
I lead by doing and work WITH people. I am going to work hard to make our board work together.
The Town Chair is probably noticed the most for leading the monthly town board meetings and the annual town meeting, but the responsibilities include:

- Communicating with the town residents
- Preparing and adopting an annual budget
- Ensuring that adequate fire protection and ambulance service is provided to residents
- Ensuring that the township's roads, roadways, and other properties are maintained
- Submitting reports and information to the county and state as required

- Keeping the residents informed.
A cooperative functioning team.
I think I remember watching tv when we landed on the moon, but I definitely remember when President Nixon resigned. I was young :)
I swept sidewalks after my brother mowed lawns. It only lasted one summer, but was a great first job.
There are always songs in my head. The Beatles "Penny Lane" has been playing for the last three days.
Maintaining decorum. I like to joke around too much.
The Town Chair leads the Town Board which represents the residents of the township.
"Transparency" seems to be the buzzword of this election. I STRONGLY believe that there are only 2 things that should be "SECRET":

- Township employee's performance evaluations
- During the contract bidding process, vendor's contract bids should remain secret until the contract is awarded.
Financial transparency occurs by first not having secrets, but secondly, we need to make it easier for our residents to know the activities of the township. Making the treasurer's report more detailed as it is now is a huge step in the right direction.

While a town board meeting is technically for the board members to meet and the public to observe, it should not take long to provide information on what is going on (i.e. what bills are being paid, etc) to the residents. Both spoken and written communications need to be clear and timely.

Accountability is much simpler when the residents are always invited and informed. Votes are done openly, not via secret ballot so it is always clear how the board members vote.
