Doug Crosby
Doug Crosby was a 2016 candidate for the Fifth Judicial District in Mississippi.[1] He was defeated in the general election on November 8, 2016.

Mississippi held special elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. The candidate filing deadline was May 6, 2016.[2] Incumbent George Mitchell Jr. defeated Doug Crosby in the Fifth Circuit District general election.[1]

There are 51 judges on the Mississippi Circuit Courts, each elected to four-year terms in nonpartisan elections. The circuit courts share the supreme court's regulations on re-election and chief justice selection, but policies on interim vacancies and judicial qualifications differ slightly.[3]
Qualifications
To serve on this court, a judge must be:[3]
- a practicing attorney for at least five years;
- a minimum of 26 years old;
- a state citizen for at least five years; and
- a district resident.
