Suzanne Johnson is the superintendent of School District U-46. Johnson was appointed superintendent on July 1, 2023. Johnson's previous career experience includes working within the district as deputy superintendent, assistant superintendent, principal, associate principal, divisional, and teacher.[1]
Past superintendents
- Tony Sanders was the superintendent of School District U-46 from June 1, 2017 until February 2023 when he was named the Illinois Superintendent of Education.[2] Sanders' previous career experience includes working as the district's chief of staff.[3]
- Kenneth Arndt was the interim superintendent of School District U-46 from 2014 to 2017. Arndt's previous career experience included working as the superintendent of Community Unit School District 300.[3]
- José Torres was the superintendent of School District U-46 from 2008 to 2014. Torres' previous career experience included working as a regional superintendent of Chicago Public Schools and assistant superintendent for student services of Anne Arundel County Public Schools in Maryland.[4]

The School District U-46 school board consists of seven members elected to four-year terms. Board members are elected at large.

Board members are elected on a staggered basis in April of odd-numbered years.
Three seats on the board were up for general election on April 1, 2025.
