The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was January 26, 2016. Incumbent Fred V. Brown ran unopposed in the Lexington City Council District 8 general election.[1]

The city of Lexington, Kentucky held elections for city council on November 4, 2014. A primary election took place on May 20, 2014. LeTonia A. Jones and Fred V. Brown advanced past Dave Vinson and Amy Beasley in the District 8 primary.[2][3] Brown defeated Jones in the general election.[4]
