Román ran for re-election for judge of the Colorado Court of Appeals. He won in the retention election on November 5, 2024.
Román was appointed to the Colorado Court of Appeals by Republican Gov. Bill Owens on August 1, 2005.[1] Román was appointed chief judge on October 8, 2021, effective December 31, 2021.[2]

Román earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Colorado State University in 1984 and received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1987.[1]
