A vote about whether to recall Robert Hursh, Debbie Todd and Jim Sievers from their positions as commissioners of the Heceta Water District in the area of Florence, Oregon, took place on June 27, 2010.[1] All three officials were retained in their seats.[2]
The Heceta Recall Committee led the effort to recall the three commissioners. Gene McDermott filed the official recall notices with county election officials.[3]
The reason for recall given on petitions was that each of the commissioners "exhibit[ed] a lack of financial oversight."[3]
Background
In May 2009, the water commissioners voted to increase water rates from an average of $26.50/month to an average monthly bill of about $48.
