J. Michael Joiner
J. Michael Joiner was a judge on the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals from 2011 to 2019. He was appointed by Governor Robert Bentley in February 2011 to succeed James Allen Main. He did not file for re-election in 2018 and left office at the end of his term on January 13, 2019.[1]
Education
Joiner received his B.A. from Samford University in 1979, and his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law in 1985.[1]
Career
Prior to joining the appellate court, Joiner was a judge on Alabama's Circuit 18 Court from 1992 to 2011. Before that, he was a lawyer in private practice.[2]

In October 2011, Joiner announced his intention to seek a full term on the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals.[3] He ran unopposed in 2012 and was re-elected.[4] [5]
