My name is Jacob Castillo, and I’m proud to call Zillah home. I’m a husband, father, small business owner, and lifelong Valley resident who cares deeply about our community and its future.

In 2019, I started Junk Bros 509, a local junk-removal company that I built from the ground up. Running a business has taught me accountability, transparency, and how to solve problems with limited resources. Those same principles guide me in public service, listening to people, respecting their time, and getting things done efficiently and honestly.

I decided to run for Mayor of Zillah because I believe our town deserves leadership that listens, plans ahead, and puts people before politics. Too many decisions are being made without community input. I want to bring back true local planning, open communication, and a government that works for the people ...not above them.

Zillah is growing, but growth shouldn’t mean losing our small-town identity. I want to ensure we grow in the right way, supporting local businesses, protecting neighborhoods, and keeping our town safe, clean, and family-friendly.

When I say, “Let’s Keep Zillah… Zillah,” it’s about preserving the values that make this community special, neighbors helping neighbors, pride in our work, and a local government that listens to its people. That’s the kind of leadership I’ll bring as your mayor.
  • Community First, Always. Zillah deserves leadership that listens. Too many decisions are being made without real community input. As mayor, I’ll bring back transparency and restore a local planning process so residents have a voice before choices are made...not after. I believe in small-town values, accountability, and open communication. Together, we can make sure every project, every dollar, and every decision reflects what’s best for the people who call Zillah home.
  • Smart Growth That Protects Our Small-Town Identity. Zillah is growing, and that’s a good thing, but it has to be the right kind of growth. I’ll work to attract responsible development that supports local businesses, respects our neighborhoods, and preserves the small-town charm that makes Zillah special. Growth should serve the people who live here, not change who we are. My focus is on planning with purpose...so Zillah stays safe, welcoming, and true to its roots.
  • Accountable Leadership That Gets Things Done. As a small business owner, I’ve learned that results matter. When something isn’t working, you fix it. Zillah needs leadership that takes responsibility, hires the right people, and demands professionalism at every level. I believe in leading by example, showing up, listening, and following through. As mayor, I’ll bring that same work ethic to City Hall to ensure your local government serves with honesty, respect, and results.
I’m passionate about policies that put the community first and keep local decision-making in local hands. My top focus is restoring a strong community planning process so residents have a real voice before decisions are made. I’m also deeply committed to supporting small businesses and responsible growth, attracting development that creates opportunity without sacrificing our small-town character. Finally, I care about accountability and professionalism in city government, ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent wisely and city staff treat every resident with respect. Together, these priorities protect what makes Zillah special while planning for its future.
My very first job was at Fewel Farms right here in Zillah, sorting cherries during the summer. I worked there for a few seasons and learned early on what hard work really means. Long hours, hot days, and a fast pace, but also good memories and great people. And if you’ve ever spent a day in the cherry shed, you know one thing for sure: be careful eating too many cherries in one day! If you know, you know.
To me, being mayor means serving, not ruling. A true leader listens to the people, protects their freedoms, and makes decisions based on common sense and community values, not political trends or outside agendas. Leadership means taking responsibility, not passing blame. It’s about standing firm on principles, managing taxpayer money wisely, and ensuring local government stays accountable to the people it serves. As mayor, I’ll lead with integrity, transparency, and the belief that government’s job is to empower families and small businesses...not control them.
