James Scott Newton is a judge on the Otero County Magistrate Court in New Mexico. He was re-elected in 2014 for a term that expires on December 31, 2018.[1]

Primary: He was successful in the Republican primary on June 3, 2014, receiving 54.5 percent of the vote. He competed against Steve M. Guthrie.
General: He was unopposed in the general election on November 4, 2014. [1][2]

Newton defeated Irene S. Mirabal-Counts and Steve M. Guthrie in the Republican primary. He ran unopposed in the general election, receiving 100% of the vote.[3]
