Jason Scalzi was a candidate for at-large representative on the Vineland Board of Education in New Jersey. He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014. Scalzi, Joseph Pagano and Kimberly L. Codispoti ran as a slate in the election.

Scalzi served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1992 to 1996, the New Jersey Army National Guard from 1997 to 2004 and the New Jersey Air National Guard from 2004 to 2010. This included a deployment to Kirkuk, Iraq, during in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He earned an associate degree in liberal arts from Cumberland County College.[1]

Scalzi has worked in law enforcement since 1999. He has been employed with the Vineland Police Department since 2000, where he works in the community policing unit and as the chaplain liaison officer. He volunteers with the Alpha and Mercury Critical Incident Response Team. He became and executive member of the Cumberland County Positive Youth Development Coalition in 2013.[1]

Scalzi is an ordained minister with Assemblies of God and is an elder at Chestnut Assembly of God.[1]

Three seats on the Vineland Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014. Incumbents Eugene Medio, Diamaris Rios and Tom Ulrich all had expiring terms, but Ulrich did not run for re-election. Medio and Rios were joined on the ballot by Kimberly L. Codispoti, Sean R. McCarron, Joseph Pagano, Anthony Rizzo and Jason Scalzi. Codispoti, Pagano and Scalzi ran as a slate.[2]
