Jerry H. Ritter Jr. is a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico. He was appointed to this position on September 4, 2017, and his current term will expire on September 3, 2033. Prior to his elevation to the federal bench, Ritter was a judge on the Twelfth Judicial District of New Mexico.[1] Ritter was appointed to the bench in February 1997 and retained in 2008.[2] He was retained again in 2014 and retired from service on that court effective September 2, 2017.[3][4]

Education

Ritter received his undergraduate degree from New Mexico State University and his J.D. from the University of New Mexico.[2]

Career

Prior to his elevation to the bench, Ritter worked in private practice and as an assistant district attorney.[2]
