Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Maggitt's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • National Security: Securing our boarder is essential to national security. I am committed to ensuring that our military and homeland security capabilities are first class to include an appropriate response to terrorism, safety, training, equipment readiness, healthcare care our servicemen and women and effective leadership support for sustaining the nation’s intentions.
  • Crime: I believe that significant acts of violence (i.e. murder) are an act of terrorism. I believe that all local law enforcement authorities, ethnic groups and public service groups should work smarter to build trust as the first defense against crime and civil unrest.
  • Civil Rights: I believe we must understand human rights as a foundation for civil rights. I believe in equal and fair treatment for every person. I have zero tolerance for racial profiling, hate crimes against different races and one’s choice of sexual preference. I believe we all have a responsibility to prevent stereotypes.
  • Marriage Equality: People are going to choose their sexual preference. They should decide how to respectfully conduct themselves in public where there are different social views. I believe that marriage is a formal agreement to form an intimate bond. When two persons decide to marry, especially of the same sex, their decision does not impact my personal values, beliefs or actions in public or private life.
  • Economy: I believe in creating and maintaining a stable financial system through federal and state regulation and enable businesses to create jobs.
