An effort to recall Jim Nicola from his position as chairmain, which is also referred to as mayor by residents, was launched in Decatur, Nebraska, where it failed. The paperwork for the recall attempt was supported by Betty Sparks, who organized the campaign. According to Sparks, Nicola misused his authority and did not comply with citizens' needs or concerns. Sparks stated: "It is three-and-a-half years until we vote him out. I started going to the board meetings and he argued with the board members."[1][2]
