Allen ran in the 2012 election for New Mexico House of Representatives District 31. She ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on June 5, 2012. Incumbent William R. Rehm defeated challenger William Arnold Wiley in the Republican Primary on June 5, 2012. She was defeated by Rehm in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]
