John R. Solien was a judge for the Ninth Judicial District in Aitkin County, Minnesota. He was appointed to this position by Gov. Arne Carlson (R) on September 23, 1994, and retired from the bench on January 4, 2017.[1]

Solien earned his B.A. from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and his J.D. from the William Mitchell College of Law.[1]

Prior to joining the bench, Solien worked as an attorney in private practice and an assistant county attorney for Aitkin County.[1]
