Jose A. Suarez
José A. Suarez is a judge on the Connecticut Appellate Court. Governor Ned Lamont (D) appointed him on July 20, 2020, and he assumed office on August 8 of the same year.[1]
Prior to his appointment to the appellate court, Suarez was a judge on the Hartford District Superior Court. Governor Jodi Rell (R) nominated him in January 2009 and he was later confirmed by the Connecticut General Assembly.[2][3] Suarez was reappointed in 2017.[4]
Education
Suarez received his undergraduate degree from the University of Dayton in 1989 and his J.D. from the University of Connecticut in 1993.[5]
Career
Suarez began his legal career with the firm Friedle & Ustach, forging an interest in criminal law. In 1996, he joined the Office of the Attorney General, eventually settling with the Child Protection Session in Middletown. In 2003, Suarez joined the environment unit of the Attorney General's Office, where he served until joining the superior court in 2009.[6][3]
