Maine Waldo-Hancock Bridge, Amendment No. 2 (1929)

The Maine Waldo-Hancock Bridge Referendum, also known as Amendment No. 2, was on the September 9, 1929 ballot in Maine as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment, where it was approved. The measure allowed for the issuance of bonds of up to $1.2 million pay for building a bridge across the Penobscot River to be called the Waldo-Hancock Bridge.[1][2] This amended Section 17 of Article IX of the Maine Constitution.[3]
Aftermath
On September 12, 1955, $90,000 bonded indebtedness remained on the Waldo-Hancock Bridge, but $101,250.28 in cash deposit was available to pay for this.[4] On October 12, 1959, a debt of $45,000 remained on the bridge, but a cash deposit of $67,752.36 was available to pay it.[5]
