Maryland's O'Malley appoints nine to Maryland courts

Maryland: On Friday, July 23, 2010, Governor Martin O'Malley announced the appointment of nine judges across the state. Michele D. Hotten was appointed to the Maryland Court of Special Appeals, Fourth District. Hotten is currently a judge on the Seventh Circuit Court.[1]
To the trial courts, O'Malley appointed:
- Yolanda A. Tanner, a lawyer that represents Baltimore's Department of Social Services, to the Third District Court;
- Shannon E. Avery and Karen Friedman, appointed to the First District Court;
- Appointed to the Eighth District Court were Marsha L. Russell, Leo Ryan, Jr. and Steven D. Wyman;
- Ricardo D. Zwaig, a partner in private practice, was appointed to the Tenth District Court in Howard County; and
- Audrey A. Creighton, an assistant public defender, to the Sixth District Court.[2][1]
All judicial appointments in the state must be confirmed by the Maryland Senate.[3]
