Woodmancy ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Illinois' 18th District. Woodmancy sought the nomination on the Democratic ticket.[2] The signature filing deadline was December 27, 2011, and the primary took place on March 20, 2012.

Woodmancy was defeated by candidate Steve Waterworth in the Democratic primary on March 20, 2012.[1] Incumbent Aaron Schock ran unopposed in the Republican primary.[1]
