Republican challenger Zaida Martinez lost, as did Margaret "Maggie" O'Brien, Danielle Albert, and Shakirah Howard, who were endorsed by the Independent Party.[1][2]

Board member faces charges relating to a shipment of cocaine
Serrano-Adorno and her husband Victor were charged with money laundering, forgery, and giving a false statement after Victor Serrano-Adorno allegedly attempted to pick up a shipment of cocaine using a false name in June 2019. An investigation was begun into both of them following that incident.
An attorney representing both said they would plead not guilty.[3]
